Bec seams ready
From Sydney Confidential
July 20, 2005
IN the final countdown to that wedding, pregnant bride Bec Cartwright yesterday had her final dress fitting then bunkered down at the InterContinental Hotel in Sydney's The Rocks ahead of tomorrow's nuptials.
Arriving early yesterday morning to beat the city crowds, Cartwright and her mother met with designer Alex Perry at his Strand Arcade store to make the final adjustments to her flowing white, baby-doll gown.
The couple will be married by Pastor Brandon Chaplin, the Port Adelaide football club chaplain based at the Bellevue Heights Baptist Church in Adelaide.
While groom Lleyton Hewitt is a loyal Crows fan - and the club's No.1 ticket holder - his coach and groomsman Roger Rasheed's sister is the publicist for Port Adelaide and is believed to have arranged the celebrant for the couple.
A pre-wedding drinks reception will be held at the exclusive 32nd-floor Club InterContinental for the 180 guests staying at the hotel before buses move guests to the Sydney Opera House for the nuptials.
This will be followed by a cruise to the reception, believed to be at Taronga Zoo.
Photographers were yesterday camped outside the InterContinental Hotel, where Cartwright is hiding out with her mother until the ceremony.
But in an odd move for the couple who sold their engagement story, followed by the story on Cartwright's pregnancy to New Idea and the Seven network - apparently to fund a Cambodian orphanage - the couple have not signed any exclusive deals for their wedding, Confidential has learned.
Confidential also gained details of Cartwright's hens day last Sunday, a rained-out harbour cruise for which girlfriends of the future Mrs Hewitt were each asked to fork out $95 each.
